Recall Date:
6/18/2026

NHTSA ID: 26V394

MFr. Campaign Number: N262555780

Manufacturer: General Motors, LLC

Affected Components: Folding third-row seat module

Potential Number of Units Affected: 14,540

Which Cadillac vehicles are affected?

This recall covers 14,540 Cadillac Vistiq SUVs, split between 13,629 model year 2026 units and 911 early model year 2027 units. GM identified the affected population using manufacturing records.

The Vistiq's third-row seatbacks can be commanded to power-fold into the stowed position with a single press-and-release of the down control button, located in the cargo area or on the pillar next to the seat. If the seatback meets an obstruction while folding, it stops but doesn't automatically reverse, which means a smaller occupant could become trapped underneath it.

What drivers need to know

The safest step for owners is to avoid using the third-row power-fold function around children or small occupants until the vehicle has been serviced. GM has not issued a Do Not Drive or Park Outside advisory for this campaign, since the risk is tied to using the folding feature rather than to driving the vehicle.

The permanent fix is a dealer replacement of the folding third-row seat module. Until replacement parts are available, dealers can disable the third-row folding feature entirely on request, on both vehicles in inventory and vehicles already with owners.

Dealer notification began June 18, 2026, with interim owner letters mailing around August 3, 2026. GM has not yet set a date for remedy owner notification and will provide one once replacement parts are available.

Cadillac recall background

GM's own engineering team caught this one internally. In March 2026, a GM engineer evaluated the Vistiq's third-row power-fold function after a different manufacturer announced a recall involving second- and third-row power seats failing to respond appropriately to contact with an occupant. The engineer submitted findings through GM's Speak Up For Safety program after testing showed the seatback would continue folding with a 33- to 40-pound box on the seat and stop in a position that prevented removing the box without manually reversing the seat.

GM's Safety Field Action Decision Authority approved the recall on June 11, 2026, after finding six other related incidents or complaints, none involving an injury. Halting the folding feature on 2027 model year Vistiq shipments as of June 8, ahead of the public recall filing, is a sign that GM moved quickly once internal testing confirmed the concern.

How BizzyCar can help

A Vistiq recall this early in the model's life means most affected owners are recent buyers who are still learning the vehicle's features, including one they may not yet know carries a pinch risk for small occupants.

BizzyCar Recall Outreach identifies which Vistiq owners in a Cadillac dealer's database fall inside the affected build window and reaches them by two-way SMS, so owners know to avoid the third-row fold function around kids before they find out about the risk the hard way.
