GM Issues Safety Recall Affecting Buick Regal Sedans Over Rear Suspension Component

Recall Date: 03/10/2026

NHTSA ID: 26V113

Mfr. Campaign Number: N252537580

Manufacturer: General Motors, LLC

Component: SUSPENSION

Potential Number of Units Affected: 17,050

General Motors has announced a safety recall affecting certain 2012–2013 Buick Regal vehicles equipped with Turbo and GS trim packages. The recall addresses a potential corrosion issue involving the rear suspension toe link, which may weaken over time and increase the risk of a crash.

The campaign expands several earlier recalls involving the same component after additional field data suggested that more vehicles could contain parts manufactured during the suspect supplier's production window.

Vehicles Affected and What This Recall Means

General Motors is recalling certain:

Buick Regal

2012-2013 (Recall 26V113)

The recall specifically affects Turbo and GS trim-level Buick Regal vehicles that were ever registered in corrosion-prone states. These states include regions where road salt is commonly used during winter months, which can accelerate corrosion on suspension components.

States included in the recall population are:

  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • District of Columbia
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • Kentucky
  • Maine
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • Michigan
  • Minnesota
  • Missouri
  • New Hampshire
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Ohio
  • Pennsylvania
  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont
  • Virginia
  • West Virginia
  • Wisconsin

Vehicles that have never been registered in these corrosion states are not included in the recall.

Recall Breakdown

NHTSA ID: 26V113

Affected vehicles may have rear suspension toe links that did not receive proper electrocoating (e-coat) corrosion protection during manufacturing.

Without adequate corrosion protection, the metal component may become increasingly susceptible to rust over time. In severe cases, corrosion could cause the toe link to weaken and eventually fracture.

The rear toe link plays a key role in maintaining proper rear wheel alignment and stability. If the component fractures, drivers may experience a loss of vehicle control.

Estimated Vehicles Affected: 17,050

What Drivers Need to Know

General Motors will instruct dealers to replace the rear suspension toe links and adjuster fasteners on affected vehicles.

Replacement components are manufactured outside of the supplier’s suspect production window, ensuring proper corrosion protection.

Owners of affected vehicles are expected to begin receiving notification letters starting April 13, 2026, instructing them to schedule a service appointment with their dealership. Repairs will be performed free of charge.

Drivers can check their vehicle by VIN through GM’s recall lookup tool or by using the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall database from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Background on the Recall Expansion

This recall expands several earlier campaigns addressing the same issue:

  • 20V764
  • 21V633
  • 21V00F

Those recalls originally focused on vehicles believed to contain toe links from a supplier manufacturing window where corrosion protection may have been applied improperly.

However, a field report submitted through GM’s Speak Up For Safety (SUFS) program identified a vehicle outside the previously defined production breakpoint that appeared to contain the same supplier component.

Following further analysis and additional complaints tied to rear toe link corrosion, GM elected to expand the recall population out of an abundance of caution to include additional Buick Regal Turbo and GS vehicles in corrosion states.

GM has stated it is not aware of any crashes or injuries associated with the issue.
