Ford can trace analog cluster production to the vehicle each cluster went into, and that is how it set the population. These trucks were not built in VIN order, so the only reliable check is the VIN itself. Owners can call Ford at 1-866-436-7332 or ask a local Ford or Lincoln dealer.

The tachometer and speedometer on the analog cluster can stick or move erratically and give the driver inaccurate readings. A speedometer that does not show actual speed raises the risk of a crash. The condition also touches Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 101 for controls and displays. Ford concluded the vehicles meet the stated speedometer requirements but may not meet the full intent of the standard, and NHTSA's Office of Vehicle Safety Compliance agreed with that interpretation.

What drivers need to know

Owners will be notified by mail and told to take the truck to a Ford or Lincoln dealer, where the suspect instrument cluster module is replaced at no charge. The replacement module has been validated for proper operation. The report lists Do Not Drive and Park Outside as consumer advisories. Owners with a redundant digital speedometer in the cluster may notice a difference between the two speeds displayed, which is the one warning sign Ford identifies.

Dealers were notified on October 9, 2026, and VINs became searchable that day. Interim owner letters are scheduled to mail between October 26 and October 30, 2026. Remedy owner letters follow between December 7 and December 11, 2026. The recall is phased, and Ford is using its general reimbursement plan.

Ford recall background

Ford's Critical Concern Review Group took up the issue on May 28, 2026, after reports of stuck or inaccurate needles on F-150 and Super Duty trucks. Ford reviewed supplier records and field reports and concluded that supplier process deficiencies caused the condition. The exact nature of those deficiencies is not fully understood, but Ford confirmed that tool maintenance by the supplier on January 15, 2026, resolved them.

As of September 16, 2026, Ford had identified 18 warranty reports and 93 field reports tied to this concern, received between January 29, 2025, and August 11, 2026, covering 79 distinct VINs. Ford's Field Review Committee approved the field action on September 29, 2026. Ford is not aware of any accidents, fires, or injuries.

At 102,159 trucks, this is a high-volume campaign built on Ford's best-selling pickup lines. For the full recall data this quarter, see our Q3 2026 automotive recall report.
