The affected population was determined through curtain airbag (CAB) traceability records and vehicle production data. Vehicles built outside the suspect window, or already included in prior related recalls (25V302 and 25V573), are not part of this recall. VINs became searchable on April 2, 2026.
What Drivers Need to Know
The curtain airbags in affected vehicles are designed to deploy along the side windows during certain types of crashes to help prevent occupants from being ejected. The defective CABs may not retain sufficient pressure during deployment, meaning the airbag cushion may not maintain the force needed to keep occupants inside the vehicle. This increases the risk of partial or complete ejection through a side window.
No warning indicator can alert a driver to this condition before a crash. Dealers will replace one or both CABs, depending on which sub-recall applies to a specific vehicle: recall 06D requires replacement of both airbags, recall 10D covers the driver's side only, and recall 11D covers the passenger's side only. The replacement CABs are designed to retain proper pressure during deployment.
Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed between May 14 and May 19, 2026. Chrysler dealers were notified on April 2, 2026. Customers can check their VIN on NHTSA's website today. VINs became searchable as of April 2, 2026.
How This Recall Expanded Over Time
This is the third safety recall addressing curtain airbag pressure retention on the Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager, and it is the largest of the three. The issue first surfaced in May 2025 when Chrysler filed recall 25V302 covering 2022–2025 model year vehicles. That population was built using supplier testing data and production records available at the time.
In late June 2025, NHTSA conducted its own ejection mitigation testing on a 2025 Pacifica and found that both the left and right curtain airbags failed the excursion limit requirement. That testing triggered a new investigation, and by September 2025, Chrysler filed a second recall, 25V573, expanding coverage to additional 2025 model year units. Chrysler and supplier Autoliv ASP continued reviewing data through the fall and winter. On March 5, 2026, Chrysler's Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance team identified additional affected CABs, and on March 19, 2026, the company's Vehicle Regulations Committee formally confirmed the noncompliance. This third recall, 26V189, captures the remaining affected vehicles that prior recalls did not cover.
How BizzyCar Can Help Your Dealership
With 178,246 owner notification letters scheduled to arrive in May, Chrysler and Dodge dealers carrying Pacifica and Voyager service history have a narrow window to reach affected customers first. BizzyCar's Recall Outreach tool identifies those vehicles in your customer database and sends two-way SMS conversations to book service appointments before the phones start ringing, and before customers take their vehicles to a competing store.
This is also a high-repeat recall for the same platform. Customers who were already in for 25V302 or 25V573 may be back for 26V189. BizzyCar can help you target both new and returning recall customers in the same outreach push, keeping your lane count optimized and your advisors focused on booked appointments rather than inbound calls.
