Jeep Wagoneer S Recall March 2026

Recall Date: 03/12/2026

NHTSA ID: 26V141

MFr. Campaign Number: 26D

Manufacturer: Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)

Affect Components: Rear Hinge Cover

Potential Number of Units Affected: ~11,767

Which Jeep Wagoneer S vehicles are affected?

The recall covers 2024-2026 model year Jeep Wagoneer S vehicles produced between March 21, 2024, and July 24, 2025. A total of 11,767 vehicles are potentially involved, with Chrysler estimating that approximately 6.7% of them have the defective component.

The rear hinge covers on these vehicles were manufactured with insufficient design tolerances, meaning they may not clip properly into position. Once improperly seated, the covers are at risk of detaching while the vehicle is in operation. The component manufacturer is Magna International Inc., based in Aurora, Canada.

What drivers need to know

There are no reliable warning signs in most cases. Some drivers may notice a rattling noise while driving or observe that one or both hinge covers are not fully seated, but those cues are easy to miss until a cover comes off entirely.

When a hinge cover detaches at speed, it becomes road debris for vehicles behind it. As of February 18, 2026, Chrysler has not reported any accidents or injuries related to this defect, but the safety consequence of a structural trim piece separating from a vehicle on a highway is clear.

Chrysler will inspect all affected vehicles and repair or replace the hinge cover as needed. The replacement part is a hinge cover with improved design tolerances that allow for proper retention. The repair is free. Dealers were notified on or around March 19, 2026, and owner notification is scheduled to begin May 1, 2026. VINs became searchable in the NHTSA database starting March 19, 2026.

Chrysler recall background

Chrysler opened its internal investigation into the Wagoneer S hinge cover issue on January 8, 2026, and formally confirmed a safety defect on March 5, 2026. The timeline from investigation to recall submission was approximately two months, driven by a straightforward root cause determination using production records and supplier data.
