Honda and Acura Vehicles Affected and What This Recall Means

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) has issued a recall for certain 2024 Acura ZDX and 2024 Honda Prologue electric vehicles.

A software issue within the vehicle’s Radio Control Module may cause both the instrument cluster display and center infotainment screen to suddenly turn off while the vehicle is operating. When this occurs, drivers may temporarily lose access to important vehicle information displayed on the digital instrument panel, including the speedometer, warning lights, and system indicators.

The infotainment display may also fail to show the rearview camera image when the vehicle is shifted into reverse, resulting in reduced rear visibility.

This condition can occur intermittently and may resolve after the vehicle is restarted, but during the event drivers may not be able to see critical operating information or backup camera footage. Because of this, the vehicles may not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards No. 101 (Controls and Displays) and No. 111 (Rear Visibility).

The issue has been linked to multiple independent software defects in the Radio Control Module supplied by Robert Bosch LLC, which can trigger a processing error and cause the display systems to restart or crash.

What Drivers Need to Know

Honda and Acura dealers will update the Radio Control Module software in affected vehicles at no cost to owners. The improved software corrects the defects that can interrupt communication between the vehicle’s systems and the instrument and infotainment displays.

Dealer notifications are scheduled to begin February 27, 2026, and owner notification letters are expected to be mailed starting April 20, 2026.

Drivers can check whether their vehicle is affected by entering their VIN on Honda or Acura’s website or by using the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall lookup tool from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Honda’s Recall History

Honda’s recall activity in recent years has remained relatively moderate compared with the largest-volume manufacturers, though software-related campaigns have become increasingly common as vehicles adopt more advanced digital cockpit systems. We looked in depth at all the major manufacturers in our Quarterly Recall Report.

Many modern EV platforms rely heavily on integrated display architectures, where multiple driver information systems are managed through shared electronic control modules. When software errors occur within these systems, a single fault can affect multiple display functions at once.

While the current campaign impacts approximately 65,000 vehicles, it highlights the growing role of software reliability in next-generation electric vehicle platforms, where dashboard displays and camera systems play a critical role in both safety compliance and driver awareness.
