What drivers need to know

An anti-rust oil used inside the Integrated Park Module may degrade the protective coating on its circuit board, causing a voltage drop on the rotary sensor. If that happens while driving, the vehicle may shift unexpectedly into Neutral and lose motive power, which increases the risk of a crash. If it happens while stopped, the driver may be unable to shift out of Park.

Drivers may see a service wrench warning light with a “Service Vehicle Soon” or “Shifting System Error” message. The remedy is free: Ford will notify owners by mail, and dealers will replace the Integrated Park Module with one that doesn’t contain the problematic oil and carries the latest software.

Ford recall background

In July 2026, Ford began reviewing field reports of wrench warning lights on hybrids with HF55 transmissions, and by August the issue was escalated after two warranty claims reported a loss of motive power on 2026 Ford Edge hybrids. Testing completed in September 2026 showed that an unvalidated change in anti-rust oil by the module supplier degraded the circuit board’s coating and promoted corrosion. Ford’s Field Review Committee approved the recall on October 13, 2026.

As of September 28, 2026, Ford was aware of 15 US warranty claims, one US field report, and one US customer report. Ford is not aware of any accidents, fires, or injuries.
