The recall applies to one specific fuel tube connection. Other Toyota vehicles are not equipped with the same combination of components at that connection. Toyota has not confirmed the cause or the circumstances under which the issue occurs, so it cannot estimate how many vehicles actually carry the defect. The report enters a value of 1 percent as a placeholder, and Toyota states that the 1 means unknown.
The vehicles have a resin fuel tube on the fuel tank that connects to a main metal fuel tube and carries fuel to the engine. If the retaining clip on the connector is lifted, the two tubes can disconnect. Fuel can then keep leaking until the engine in the hybrid system shuts off. A fuel leak near an ignition source raises the risk of a fire.
What drivers need to know
All known owners will be notified to return the vehicle to a Toyota dealer. The dealer inspects the connection and installs a supplemental clamp that keeps it from disconnecting. If necessary, the dealer also replaces the resin fuel tube before installing the clamp. Toyota is using its general reimbursement plan. The report lists Do Not Drive and Park Outside as consumer advisories, so owners should read their notice closely and contact a dealer.
Toyota notified dealers on October 14, 2026. Owner notifications are phased between November 29 and December 13, 2026. The report does not give a date for VINs to become searchable, and does not list a warning that owners will see before a disconnect. Owners can check a specific vehicle at NHTSA.gov/recalls.
Toyota recall background
The Part 573 report points to an attached chronology instead of describing the investigation, so the full timeline of how Toyota reached this decision is not part of the public summary. What the report does establish is the scope. The recall is limited to the Land Cruiser Hybrid, to one fuel tube connection, and to a combination of components that other Toyota vehicles do not share.
Two suppliers are named on the recall, Usui Co., Ltd. and FTS Co., Ltd., both based in Japan. The report does not say which supplier made which part. With the cause still unconfirmed, the remedy goes after the failure path directly. A supplemental clamp locks the connection so the retaining clip cannot be lifted.
At 105,794 vehicles on a single model, this is a large campaign with a clear repair. For the full recall data this quarter, see our Q3 2026 automotive recall report.
How BizzyCar can help
The owner notice window is the opening. Dealers were notified October 14, and owner letters do not finish going out until December 13. A recall with a fire risk and a Do Not Drive advisory should not wait on a mailer. Owners who hear from the dealer first book first.
BizzyCar Recall Outreach finds vehicles with open recalls and schedules service automatically through two-way SMS. Dealers can identify the Land Cruiser Hybrids in their market, reach owners directly, and book the inspection and clamp installation while the notices are still in the mail.
