The suspect period starts when a process change was made in the tire and wheel assembly on July 1, 2025, and ends when the process was updated on March 17, 2026. FCA built the population from supplier and vehicle production records. Trucks built before or after that window, or with assemblies from a different supplier, are not included.

The sensors in these trucks may report a false tire pressure. That puts the vehicle out of compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 138, which requires a system that detects a significantly under-inflated tire and lights a low pressure warning. Inaccurate readings can lead to tire failure, which raises the risk of a crash. There is no warning before the failure. The TPMS telltale may illuminate when it occurs.

What drivers need to know

Dealers will inspect the TPMS sensors and replace them if necessary. FCA describes the replacement sensor as one that was not damaged during the mounting of the tire on the rim. The repair is performed at no cost to the owner, and FCA is using its general reimbursement plan.

FCA will notify dealers on or about October 6, 2026, and VINs become searchable that day. Owner notification begins on or about October 27, 2026. No Do Not Drive or Park Outside advisory has been issued.

Ram recall background

FCA's Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance group opened its investigation on March 17, 2026, the same day the suspect build period ended. Between March and August, the group worked with Engineering and Supplier Quality to understand the failure modes and set the population. On September 16, 2026, it recognized a build issue in some 2026 Ram 1500 trucks. On September 22, 2026, the Vehicle Regulations Committee determined a noncompliance with FMVSS 138 exists.
